Equinox Dawn- Fall Glory
As the first rays of sunlight trace the contours of Equinox Mountain, the perfectly calm water at the base of the mountain serves to reflect this glorious scene. It was necessary to hike in , in the darkness , to set up the tripod to be ready for first light, but it was all well worth it.
Quarry - Evening
Ringed by birches and other hardwoods in their late Fall finery, this tranquil scene can be found in Dorset, the site of the oldest marble quarry in the US. No longer in use to provide marble, it is a very popular swimming hole in summer. The depth in places reaches over 100 feet.
Quarry Reflections - The Ladder
The interesting patterns and shapes of the cut marble are all reflected in the calm water of this old quarry. The ladder provides a distinct element of scale.
Rocks, Water, Light
In what appears to be flames, the reflections of the brilliant foliage enhance this intimate landscape found in the lake at the base of Equinox Mountain.
Two Red Canoes
A friend pointed out that this should be titled, " Four Red Canoes".... Either way, the bright reds caught my eye, as well as the light and shadow around the edge of the lake at the base of Stratton Mountain. Taken at dawn on the day it turned out to be peak foliage at elevation , last day of September .
River's Edge- Fall Afternoon
Brilliant late afternoon sunlight backlights this scene along a quiet stretch of river that mirrors the image.
Milky Way Over Corn #2
On a moonless night in late summer, the Milky Way is seen stretching out over this field of corn-- which has been light painted briefly in this long exposure.
Rocks in Fall Colors
The first rays of sun have lit up the peak foliage on the slopes of Equinox Mountain, and it all reflected brilliantly in the pond at the base of the mountain.
Quarry in Fall
Clear morning light illuminates the last of the Fall foliage lining the old quarry in Dorset, while the perfectly calm water mirrors the scene.
Last Light, Red House
As the very last rays of sun lit up this scene along a river, it was enough to stop traffic as everyone leaped from their cars to capture the Magic.
